Changing from employee to IT Consultant.
Are you currently employed?
If you are currently an employee but have more than 3 years of professional IT experience and would like to become an IT Consultant, then we will gladly help you to arrive at your first important project. (Should you be working for one of our clients however, then for loyalty reasons we would have to decline.)
There are two main ways to move from being employed to becoming an IT Consultant:
The safest way:
The safest way, is to complete your ProData Consult CV, but delay quitting the old job until ProData Consult has found you a suitable first project.
This of course also means that the client will have to agree to wait until the notice period is over for your existing job, which can take time. In most cases, consultant jobs need to be filled rapidly as the client needs help here and now!
The fastest way:
The second way is the fastest and easiest one from a sales point of view. You complete your ProData Consult CV online, and then give immediate notice at the old job, letting ProData Consult know from which date you will be available.
This way you will be available for IT Consultant projects on a specific date, which is a lot easier to handle, but there is of course a greater economical risk for you.
The ethics of changing to being an IT Consultant:
It is important that you treat the company you are leaving in a proper and fair way. There is nothing wrong with seeking new challenges, but do not leave a company with major unsolved problems.
Finish projects that you are working on and be willing to be available for handing over know how and products. Remember that as an IT Consultant you rely on your network and references and that your present employer could easily become your future customer!
